Back to PeopleServe

My time with Groundwork has finished. I'm now on the next stage of the flexible new deal which by all accounts is in limbo until the newest DWP scheme is leashed upon the masses.

I wish I could go completely self employed and not have to worry about signing, but current circumstances don't permit that. So the JSA claim and job hunting continues until the foreseeable future.

My next appointment is tomorrow at 10 am.

Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

Applied for an administrator's job this morning through a Recruitment Agency, it says you need a CRB check done within the last 12 months, which of course I have.

Just got off the phone with the consultant dealing with the vacancy, it turns out they wanted enhanced disclosure, doesn't say that on the advert, so how many others have applied not realising that little bit of information, update the advert with the correct information to prevent wasting everyone's time.

I dropped a clanger

The clanger in question wasn't very happy when I dropped him, he'd had a rough enough time trying to escape the clutches of the soup dragon.

On a more serious note, I should have attended a JOG session at PeopleServe on Thursday morning at 11, it had completely slipped my mind when I had found the letter they had sent me. I fired off a couple of emails apologising for my oversight.

I'm back in on Monday at 2.30 to do a job search, hopefully my ramped up job search will mitigate the dropping of the clanger

Update time

Seeing as I haven't posted for a few days, just a quick update about what has been happening.

I attended a JOG session on Thursday, what ever that means. Basically were matched up weith jobs that are suitable and our contact forwards our CVs to the companies involved for consideration, we should get proper feedback from these jobs as it is our contact that will be doing the chasing, a little bit of a strange concept.

I've also set up a new website called Employment Seekers where people can share their jobhunting stories, any vacancies that companies may have, employed people are encouraged to join up and post vacancies that maybe suitable for members.

Back to PeopleServe on 8th October for another one to one review.

So that's it, that's the quick update

Congratulations to B & Q

I would like to take this opportunity to thank B&Q for their advertisement on the JCP (Job Centre Plus) Website.

It says follow the instructions on their website.

For a start you have to scroll all the way down almost to the bottom of the site.

Click on Careers to be sent to their careers site.

Click on Stores Roles.

So far I have trawled through 4 pages of job ads looking for the one advertised on the JCP website, do you think I can find the job, nooo.

Do you think I'm now going to apply for the job, even if I find it, no. Please don't make people try and hunt down the jobs, make them easier to find!!! Especially the ones specifically advertised.

Even the search doesn't bring the job up, this was only posted on JCP today.

An update

Along with coming down with a cold, it's been a busy week so far with JCP and PeopleServe signing on yesterday. Back to PeopleServe this afternoon for a jobsearch session, I have a feeling that may just be sitting down at a computer and looking for jobs. I will be printing out my evidence of previous job searches at the same time.

Tomorrow back to PeopleServe for a JOG session, where 2 people will come in, identify what jobs you would like to do, give you application forms and put you forward for jobs that companies have asked PeopleServe to fill.

I'm wondering what impact my outspoken nature regarding JCP (Job Centre Plus) and RAs (Recruitment Agencies) is having on my job prospects. None it would seem at the moment, only time will tell.
